Going for green

As well as serving up delicious balls in our homemade flatbreads, here at Flat Out we’re also keen to minimise our impact on the environment. This week, we’ve been exploring bio-degradable packaging options, and somehow, we’ve ended up with box loads of takeaway packaging – with no where to take it quite yet!  Who knew packaging was available in such an array or shapes, sizes and materials?! And yet no-one seems to have come up with the perfect receptacle for flatbread and balls – anyone up for the challenge?

Of course,  ratherpackaging than getting on with the dull stuff like cost comparisons, we couldn’t resist sticking on a label and making a sample cup our very own! Really had expected this procrastination thing to vanish now that every second counts towards getting our very own business off the ground. Wrong!

We had a couple of other new arrivals this week, the coffee grinder and the coffee brewer – they make a fine pair. Just waiting for the US to UK adapter plug to arrive (thank you Amazon, you saved the day) then we can get testing and tasting! We’re looking forward to doing our training with Artisan Roast and offering our customers a consistently great cup of coffee. We intend to keep things simple to start with, but we have aspirations to serve the perfect macchiato – one day.

We’ve also been flat out with training, we’re making good progress there, and beginning to get to grips with the processes and procedures we need to put in place to make sure we serve great food safely!  We’ll keep at it!
