What happened to Spring?!

Our last post suggested Spring was on it’s way – 2 months on and we’re still pulling on our thermals for a stint in the van. The good news is Bob can now bend down to pull on his own thermals –  so that’s progress!

After a quiet start to the year, the last couple of months have been busy ones and the next couple are too. All good news for any wee business, of course.

We continue to enjoy our visits to the Edinburgh Farmers’ Market on Castle TerrScreen Shot 2016-05-03 at 21.56.28.pngace. We’ve been made to feel very welcome there, despite a wee incident involving our stainless steel chimney and an overhead electric cable. We’re getting to know a few of the regular visitors to the market and always enjoy a blether with the tourists.

We were very excited to be involved in the launch of Fountainbridge Street Food Fridays  Local residents and office workers embraced the idea and we’re hoping that this wee market will go from strength to strength. We’re blaming the weather for a not so busy visit there last week –  gales, snow, hail,

horizontal rain and fridge-like temperatures are not conducive to happy outdoor eating!

The Pitt Market in Edinburgh has been running on the last Saturday of the month since earlier in the year and we were very excited to be heading along in April. What a great set up – bringing together a different collection of street food vendors every month, it’s drawing in great crowds, there was a great vibe and we hope to get the chance to go along again. It’s great to have this kind of thing happening in Edinburgh, hats off to the guys for getting it off the ground.

We’re taking part in a pilot with Glasgow City Council supported by StrEAT. The first Friday event at Broomielaw was a really busy one. It was a long day though – and who knew there is so much to look at along the length of the M8 when you travel at 40miles an hour? It was pretty chilly on the way home but a bit of a sing song in the cab kept us going.

Next up for us is another visit to Broomielaw, a couple of trips to Castle Terrace, VIP catering at the Tour Series and the Shimano Tweedlove International Expo in Peebles.  Looking forward to a busy summer 🙂
